On April 9, 2025, in a ceremony at State House, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio was honored with an honorary fellowship by the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. The accolade recognizes his transformative leadership and efforts in advancing human capital development across Sierra Leone.
During the ceremony, College President Alhaji Mutada Sesay praised the President for his decisive actions—citing, among other measures, the swift response to the Kush drug crisis as a defining example of his commitment to public health. Professor Ibrahim Oreagba, Secretary-General of the College, emphasized that this honor is reserved for leaders whose contributions to public health and development resonate on a global scale.
In accepting the fellowship, President Bio expressed gratitude, stressing that the recognition reinforces his commitment to initiatives like the Free Health Care Initiative and broader efforts to enhance education, healthcare, and food security across the nation. The President underscored that every step taken is in service of a healthier, more prosperous Sierra Leone.
This honor from West African pharmacists reflects not only on the President’s past achievements but also on the ongoing vision for a resilient and empowered future in Sierra Leone.
